Tuesday night Aug 30th, the Samoa Project Committee will hold their second meeting at North Valley City Hall at 7:30pm. This sub-committee of the LUC is researching the proposed affordable housing project and it’s potential impacts on the area. This is a working committee meeting so even though it is open to the public, don’t think you can attend just to rant and rave. They have a lot of research to go through so let them work and save the display of opposition until you are needed at a more public forum. If you are able to offer assistance to the committee please contact the chairman, Bill Skiles at email@example.com. There is also a new blog that just kicked off that will be the go to site for information regarding the work of the committee. The site is a STNC info blog and can be found at http://samoaavetujungasb1818project.blogspot.com/
Keep your eye on Zachau Canyon in Tujunga and a developing problem with the US Forest Service. The Station Fire and the subsequent rains have managed to severely damage a retaining wall (that also serves as a fire road bridge) just above the Zachau Canyon Debris Basin. If the wall goes in a storm, many homes could be threatened, and yet, the US Forest Service, who is responsible for the wall, is refusing to repair it! More on this later!
