K-Mart Site Update

If you’ve followed this LA Times series on the troubles at the LACCD then you are probably aware that the Larry Eisenberg, the LACCD Projects and Facilities director has been fired.  What this means for Sunland-Tujunga is that Mission College is not likely to be coming to town anytime soon, if ever.  Furthermore, retailer Target has now confirmed that they are out of the running since Mission College will not be around to provide them with a cushy lease. Disappointing to be sure, but the STA along with the STNC, the Chamber of Commerce, and Paul Krekorian’s office will be reaching out to try and find the appropriate development for this special site. Stay tuned on this one!

  1. This is a BIG LOSS for our community.

The possibility of a WalMart has been posted on a local blog. It would not fulfill the dream of a “community center” but would provide needed shopping for our area.

  2. I know, how about a drive-in theater?

  3. Seriously

It was a drive in theater at one time. S/T doesn’t need another theater it needs to
    either
    1. Open a shopping center
    2. Bring revenue to S/T

I drive through San Fernando and wonder why S/T cant clean up their neighborhood like they did.
