Weekend Update

The threat of a Industrial Propane Station at 7937 Foothill is no more. At a recent hearing before the North Valley Area Planning Commission, a ruling was made that reduced the size of the applicant proposed 25 foot long propane tank to a mere 5 foot long tank. This has made it impossible for the industrial propane station to proceed and the applicant has abandoned his plans. Workers have been at the site filling in the trenches and cleaning up the location. We spoke with the workers and they said the former Coffee Stop site will now become a market. Great work everyone on keeping further industrialization out of Sunland-Tujunga! Special thanks to Councilman Paul Krekorian for going to bat for the community! and to the STNC and the LUC for standing with the STA on this important land use issue!

This Wednesday, Oct 13th, at the STNC monthly meeting, there will be a presentation from both the Pro and Against sides of Proposition 23. Prop 23 is an attempt to halt implementation of California’s historic AB32 Environmental Solutions Act that was passed several years ago. Prop 23 is sponsored by 2 Texas Oil companies that fear other states will follow California’s lead in advancing green technologies and reduce our dependence on oil.
