Propane Hearing DeBriefing

Great News!

The hearing before the North Valley Area Planning Commission was held today concerning the proposed Propane Filling Station at the former Coffee Stop site (7937 Foothill). The NVAPC is requiring the applicant  to reduce the size of his propane tank from 25′ long x 5′ high to 5′ long x 5′ high!

For all intents and purposes, we won our appeal. It will be unlikely that that smaller propane tank will be economically feasible for the business owners. They will be required to upgrade the sidewalk and Leolang driveway, too. That will cost a bundle.

Councilman Paul Krekorian addressed the commissioners first, and he was fantastic! He is very much in support of our efforts to bring appropriate business to Foothill. We have the best council member in the entire city!

We had 17 speakers in support of the appeal and NOT ONE person attended the hearing in support of the project. Not even the project applicant. That’s right. They didn’t even show up to the hearing.

It is so rewarding to be a part of such an informed, active and dedicated community. Many thanks to everyone who contributed their thoughts and time for the appeal hearing, and your efforts to improve our town.

  1. We have the best councilmember in the City?

    The jury is out.

If Krekorian allows the CRA to move onto Foothill Blvd between Osborne and Wentworth, then we will have the WORST councilmember in the City.

This area is single family dwellings. The CRA has no business being there except to bring the threat of mixed use density to a singularly residential area of rural character. It will destroy the entire community.

Krekorian’s office apparently loves the CRA, which is shocking considering the fact that Chris Essel now runs it.

If Paul lets the CRA expand the Pacoima/Panorama City district into Lake View Terrace as preliminary maps are showing, THIS WILL BE WAR.

  2. This is really good news for once and hopefully will lead to another party doing something good with the property.
