Propane Station Hearing This Thursday!

This Thursday, August 5th,  the STA appeal against a Propane Station use at the former Coffee Stop site will be heard before the North Valley Area Planning Commission.

We cannot allow our Specific Plan to be degraded by yet another Planning Department failure in judgment! The applicant has been deceptive since day one in his efforts to open an industrial propane distribution business in the middle of what is supposed to be a pedestrian friendly retail area. He is claiming that he will only be filling 5 gallon propane containers. If so, why does he need an 1100 gallon tank?  We believe he is saying what is needed to get his business open and then plans to operate as he pleases.

Please join us this Thursday at the

Hearing before the North Valley Area Planning Commission

First Floor Conference Room

Marvin Braude Center

6262 Van Nuys Boulevard

Van Nuys at 4:30 pm.

Councilman Paul Krekorian will be there to speak in support of our Appeal!

What an eyesore this is on Foothill Blvd. I don’t understand why anyone would have such an industrial service business on a pedestrian retail area, when the better place for it is in industrial areas of Sun Valley/N Hollywood.

Foothill Blvd is the only main road we have up here and we need to fight to keep it clean.

  2. Aren’t there already enough propane servicing locations
along Foothill Bl? Just notice and count them as you drive along the Blvd.

How soon would the location be abandoned due to lack
of customers ? Are there really enough users in the area, of 5 gallon propane tanks, to warrant the instillation of an
    additional 1100 tank ?????

    Public beware of sneaky plans.

  3. All you need to do is travel about a mile or less and there is a propane refill location as you travel up Foothill blvd. It is located on a gas station and why would someone travel all the way up to this location just to fill a large propane tank….this location will never make it if it does indeed open. My idea would be to level the exsisting building and put in something more useful…even a fast food eatery would be better than what could be there soon.
