We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our supporters.
With your help, we raised enough funds to keep going for another year. Our two major fundraisers, the Bake Sale at Bolton Hall and the Verdugo Hills Golf Tournament were lots of fun!
2009 was a busy year, but nothing beats the elation we experienced at hearing the news that Home Depot was dropping their plans for a store here. January marks the one year anniversary of our victory!
We accomplished quite a lot this year … we wrote comments for the Verdugo Hills Golf Course Draft Environmental Impact Report; filed an appeal with City Planning against an expanded auto body shop at Plainview & Apperson St; we sponsored a community CEQA Workshop with the Planning and Conservation League; and facilitated Candidate Forums for our next Councilmember. We also helped to keep you informed during the Station Fire and sponsored monthly Community Beautification Clean-Up days at the Verdugo Hills Cemetery. Did I mention our booth at the Watermelon Festival, our float in the Fourth of July parade and our support of the Family Fireworks? You can count on us to be there in the neighborhood!
There’s always more to do so we hope we’ll have your continuing support in the coming year. Everyone is welcome to participate. Let us know if you have a particular area of interest or expertise. We can always use help with ideas, event planning, writing, organizing paperwork, and of course, having fun!
The STA wouldn’t be here without your financial support. Funds are always needed for website fees, filing appeals, printing fliers, professional services, and event supplies. We can’t offer gifts or premiums like other non-profit groups, but we do promise to do our best to improve the quality of life for all of our Community Plan area!
See you in 2010!
P.S. There will not be any Cemetery clean-up in January. We’ll likely see you up there in February.
