We’ve got some catching up to do! Here’s some tidbits of news.
What’s happening with the Kmart site?
In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a big ol’ sign at the Kmart site! Its most definitely available for lease or lease for sale. We’ve heard that there is a lot of interest in the site, but no solid offers. We haven’t got any details about any negotiations to report, but we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything. But it’s true, Target and Mission College are both interested. Mission College understands our retail needs, and they have indicated they would share the site with commercial retail. Let’s try not to get our hopes up just yet. Please attend the STNC Land Use Committee meeting on Monday, March 2, 7:00, at North Valley City Hall, or the general STNC meeting on Wednesday night, March 11, 7:00, also at North Valley City Hall (usually at Mt. Gleason). You can find out about any updates or new information there.
More Open Space
Last week, Councilmember Wendy Greuel dedicated 229 acres of open space in La Tuna Canyon! CD2 partnered with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy to purchase and preserve this land for all eternity. Many thanks to all who helped make this happen!
There’s still time to write your letter!
We’ve been in contact with City Planning and still no word about when the Draft EIR for the Verdugo Hills Golf Course will be issued. So if you haven’t written your letter requesting a 90 day review period, we urge you to do so NOW! See the VHGC tab, above this post, for all the details.
Take a stroll down memory lane.
A little while ago we asked if you would take the time to share your memories about the No Home Depot Campaign. After 4 years, there’s a lot to remember! We’d love to hear from you about your personal experiences and thoughts. Click on the NHDC tab, above, for more inspiration. You can send us an email – explodingsun AT gmail DOT com – or abby AT abbydiamond DOT com. Thanks!
