Put this on your calendar! This Saturday, June 6th, from 9 am till noon, we will be joining Mary Lou Pozzo in a clean-up of the Verdugo Hills Pioneer Cemetery! Come on down, bring a rake, some gloves, and a weed-whacker if you have one! You will learn a lot from Mary Lou about the fascinating history of this cemetery and you’ll be doing your part to help preserve this important site. This is a great opportunity to teach your kids the importance of community involvement and they will get a history lesson as well! We’ll see you there!
I would like very much to visit my sister’s grave. Hers was one of the graves which were uprooted and relocated due to the landslides in 1979. Her name is Anna Risola. She was interred in 1967. If there is any information on this, please let me know. I live in Phoenix and will be in California over the 4th of July weekend. I’m 82 now, and would like to put my mind at ease that she has a suitable resting place. Thank you for any help you might be able to afford me.
Sincerely,
Fred Wirth
Fred,
Thanks for writing! We have passed your request on to Mary Lou Pozzo, the caretaker of the cemetery and hopefully you will hear from her soon.
Mary Lou Pozzo, Ihave been trying to find my grandmothers grave, They say she is in Verdugo hills cemetery, but because of land slide it is closed to public. I am hopping to find someone who could take a picture of her head stone for me. Thank you for any help Susan
